Are you ready in your life to handle a crisis when it comes? Are most people ready for crises when they come in any form? If there was a community to learn about readiness and preparation without fear, would you take advantage of this opportunity? As a military veteran, fitness business owner, and family man, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of being prepared for “unexpected” events that happen in the course of the day. Let me first make a distinction before I continue. I am not talking about being a “prepper” and all of the “baggage” this word carries.
I am talking about being prepared to walk a number of miles in the event of a car breakdown to the nearest town when in the middle of nowhere. Would you have the proper gear stowed in your car to make this trek? Would you have the fitness or stamina to walk the miles necessary to make it to the next town if you are not picked up? Or, would you have the gear necessary to take care of yourself if you were closed in during a blizzard? If you had no power or heat, how would you survive? How would you take care of your family? Where do you begin to assess this kind of readiness level?
How about an honest discussion about being prepared? What does it take to be prepared in today’s world? What tools do you keep on hand in the event of an unexpected situation? How do you prepare your home for power outages, food shortage, no running water, etc.? I am reaching out to the Homeschooling community to find out if there are discussions revolving around preparedness, readiness, and survival? If so, what information are you finding that is being shared that’s helpful? If not, then is there interest for a community in your area where there are discussions that can lead to preparedness?
